Friedrichstadt-Palast Tickets - History

The origin of the Friedrichstadt-Palast goes back to a market hall, which was on Schiffbauerdamm, roughly 200 meters southwest of the present-day location. However, the history of the venue as a theatre for staging plays and performance acts began when the Großes Schauspielhaus was opened by Max Reinhardt on 29 November 1919.

During the Nazi period, the theatre was called Theater des Volkes and became a hub for late-bourgeois operettas. In 1945, it suffered severely due to air attacks and was eventually abandoned by the owners in 1949. Following this, the city of Berlin took over Friedrichstadt-Palast.

In 1980, the building was closed off after inspection because of severe damage. On 27 April 1984, the new Friedrichstadt-Palast building was opened and the old building was demolished. Now, it is one of the most well-known performance venues in the world. Get your Friedrichstadt-Palast tickets and become part of this illustrious history!

Friedrichstadt-Palast Tickets - Architecture

Friedrichstadt-Palast tickets are a treasure trove for those who love architecture. The Palast has been made and remade a number of times, with the help of multiple architects. It is a beautiful example of post-modern architecture. The current building retains the basics of the old interior vestibules but has been decorated on the outside with a contemporary facade, with beautiful coloured-glass windows and spectacular lighting.

The theatre is full of art pieces that enhance the beauty of the place. Some of the most significant, perhaps, are the reliefs by famed artist Emilia N. Bayer, three on the south side and one on the north side of the building.

Friedrichstadt-Palast is highly advanced when it comes to technology and stagecraft. The stage floor of the Friedrichstadt-Palast is known as the largest in the world. The proscenium arch here is also among the widest in Europe. The auditorium has the latest tools when it comes to light and sound design and special effects. The seating and stage arrangement can be shuffled according to the need.
